How to…

| Blog | November 14, 2011

Most of the feedback I have received is that the new version of Extendedtrot.com is very user friendly, but I have still gotten a few questions so I put together this quick tutorial of basic functions.

The first step is to register on the site. To do that, you just click on the “Register” link in the upper right corner.

After you are logged in, “Register” will have changed to read “My Dashboard”.

This is where the list of all your ads will appear if you have already placed them, or it will be empty if you have not placed any yet.

You can make edits to your ads by clicking on the yellow pencil icon under Options.  You can also mark them sold by clicking on “Mark Sold”. (Note: we do not remove free ads when the items have sold – you are responsible to remove them if you want them down)

After you click on the pencil, you will be able to make edits to your ad, add or delete pictures, etc.

After you have make your edits, just click on “Update Ad” and you are all set.

Important Transition Notes

| News | September 6, 2011

Some important notes regarding the transition to the new Extendedtrot site:

  • If you currently have a horse ad on extendedtrot.com it has most likely already been transferred to this new site, and you should have gotten an email from me with your login information.  If not please let me know asap.
  • If you currently have a tack/equipment/clothing ad on extendedtrot.com with a photo that you paid for, your ad is being upgraded to Featured on the new site.  These transfers are still in process and should be completed within a week.
  • If you have free, non-photo ads on the current extendedtrot.com they will not be transferred, and you will have to resubmit them on the new site.  Also please note that there is no customer support for free ads on the new site – you are welcome to use the site, but there is no assistance offered for placing your ad, registration, etc.
  • Usernames are only being transferred for those who had active, paid ads as of yesterday.  If you only had free ads, you will need to re-register on this site.

BONUS: All current paid ads have been “restarted”, so your ad will now be listed for 6 months starting in August or September (depending on when it was transferred).

NEW: Any ad can be upgraded to “Featured” for $25 which will put it in the rotating carousel at the top of the homepage, as well as on the sidebar of most pages and ads.

Both sites will run concurrently for the next week or so while we finish moving ads, and then the extendedtrot.com address will be pointed to the new site.

You may begin placing  ads on the new site at http://extendedtrot.net  immediately.

As of 9/6 no further ads will be approved on the old site.

If you have any questions or problems please let us know at info@trot.org

Thank you!

Beta Testing Feedback

| Marketing | August 15, 2011

Thank you for taking the time to test the new version of Extendedtrot classifieds.

I have purposely not provided any instructions yet, as I would like to see how intuitive it is without.  After I receive feedback, I will know where the parts are that users find challenging, and will write instructions based on that.

Please leave any feedback from your testing experiences in the comments section of this post.  I am interested in hearing your thoughts on ease of use, presentation, etc.

Thanks again!

Issue Log:

  • If you try to upload an image greater than the max file size (1 MB), your entire ad is deleted and it takes you back to the beginning. – RESOLVED
